Breast Reconstruction with Latissimus Dorsi Flap

In this method, skin and muscle from the back of the chest are mobilized and, based on their vascular supply, are tunneled under the skin through the armpit to the site of the previous breast. Since the volume is usually not sufficient on its own, an implant is also used to achieve proper reconstruction and shaping.
A horizontal surgical scar will remain at the donor site on the back of the chest.
